Hi there –

I work at Highline Community College in Des Moines, WA. I am the project coordinator for a group of students who will be arriving on August 9, 2008. They are coming on a federal grant called the Community College Summit Initiative Program (CCSIP). Students from six countries (Brazil, Pakistan, Egypt, Indonesia, Turkey, and South Africa) come for one academic school year (11 months) and study in various fields. We have 20 students coming to Highline. Half will study Hotel and Hospitality Management and half will study Information Technology.

We are looking for families (and this can mean single adults, married adults, single parents, etc.) to mentor these students. It’s not a huge commitment, but will be very rewarding. It involves hanging out with the student twice a month (for coffee, dinner, going to a park, concert, hiking, whatever…), e-mailing them or calling them twice a week to check in on them. There is a $30 stipend every month.

Thank you so much for your help!

Best wishes,
Jennifer
